Junior
Jellyfish
Our Junior Jellyfish level is for babies 5 months to 8 months. For most swimmers the Jellyfish level will be their first introduction into a swimming pool environment. Our instructors take a lot of care in providing a safe and supportive atmosphere for both the baby and the caregiver.

From Term 2 2025 we are excited to announce we have secured funding to offer one free term at this level, providing a wonderful opportunity for your little one to dive into their swimming journey.

Our Junior Jellyfish lessons take place on Friday and Sunday mornings at the Aquadome Pool in Mt Victoria, more info on the location is here. Please note that there is no on-site parking on Friday mornings.

Class Details

Classes are 30mins long and one caregiver is in the water with their baby at all times. Wherever possible, we recommend that the same caregiver attends all lessons.

Please be sure to check our baby swimwear requirements below before signing up.

The first 5 minutes of the lesson are unstructured and allow for parents and babies to slowly become acclimatised in the water.

This a fun and engaging level full of songs and splashing and is designed to foster a love of the water. We believe that all babies will tackle new challenges at their own pace and so provide a suitable scale of options for every new skill with no pressure.

In this level you will build towards taking and releasing your baby underwater and they will become familiar with basic cues and instructions.

How to Book
You can book our Jellyfish classes online. Bookings open approximately four weeks before the term starts and our term dates can be found here.

Swimwear Requirements
As part of our booking agreement with the Aquadome pool, we require all babies to wear two nappies for safety and hygiene:
-
The first layer, the nappy, is just your general swim nappy (disposable or reusable, eg Huggies Little Swimmers.
-
The second layer must be a sealed neoprene wetsuit/nappy. See example here. (There are other brands)

We have the neoprene wetsuits available for hire, and can help with fittings at your first lesson. Please note, there is a one-off $50 rental fee for the neoprene wetsuit.
You’re welcome to take the wetsuit home between lessons for personal use. Once it is too small, you can swap for the next size up at no extra cost.

Don't forget appropriate togs/swimwear for the caregiver participating in the lesson!
